Liz Falconer STATEMENT I paint because I love the paint and the surprises it affords me- the creative challenge of moving it into something I find to be coherent. I paint because the process of intense concentration takes me into my 'zone' where time stops and I communicate with something joyful and kind. I paint things to be balanced and beautiful, because I do not see either outside of my studio. I have studied the mystics and find that my vision is similar to theirs and my way of expressing it is much my own. I have studied the place where physics and metaphysics come together and believe that it is the mind of God - my mind, your mind, and especially our minds - that line up our reality. My artistic statement is about light and beauty. I know that everything in the world is made of light. We, as observers, take it in through our eyes and send it out through our hearts. As we do this we bend it EVER so slightly in the direction of our love (or hate) and joy (or agony) and compassion (or greed). It is my desire that my work creates a filter of joy, compassion, beauty and love in the beholder that bends their vision, our vision, and thus our world, in the direction of love and compassion. I live away from most of the world as I have most of my life. I find that I need to be in my own world and when I venture out I get distracted. Creativity and solving visual and philosophical problems in a mindful and intuitive way deals with the distraction - thus I can bend my super-strings to my liking!
